Food for Thought!

We we
We enjoyed our field trip to Bigoli Pasta Factory! Here we are wearing hair nets and preparing to go make pasta!

Some of us thought that wearing the hair nets over our faces was fun!

Michele Cremonese, the owner of Bigoli, showed us how to pull the spaghetti off of the machine and then allowed us to try  pulling it off.

We had a wonderfully fun time making pasta!

Slaying Our Giants

This week we are learning about putting on the whole armor of God so that we will be prepared to do battle with our enemy, Satan.
Knoah, dressed as David in King Saul's "armor," knows that it is impossible to fight Goliath in armor that does not fit.
Nile and Abdiel played the parts of Goliath and his shield bearer.
Each student stood beside our ten foot drawing of Goliath so that they could feel what it might have been like to fight Goliath.

Thanksgiving at PAS

During the month of November our class read Squanto and the Miracle of Thanksgiving.  This book was chosen because many people have forgotten the real meaning of Thanksgiving. As a class we wanted to learn why we celebrate this holiday. We learned the exciting story of Squanto and how he was kidnapped as a young boy and taken to Spain and then to England.  He was finally able to return to his village in America where he helped the Pilgrims survive the their first winter in the New World.

We then read about the Pilgrims and why they came to the New World. We learned that they were not allowed to worship in the way they wanted to, so they decided to move to a country where they could worship as they pleased. After moving to Holland for a time they decided to make the difficult journey to the New World where they could worship as they pleased and where their children could grow up with their own culture.

During the month each child made a Pilgrim family and an Indian family which we set up with an Indian wigwam, a river, and an Indian in a canoe.
